The drone rises with the running acreage total. Each ignition lands as a hit — the bigger the fire, the deeper the boom. When daily ignitions spike, the texture roughens.

Data: CAL FIRE incident archive, 2026 fire season (live API, incidents.fire.ca.gov/umbraco/api/IncidentApi). Each fire's final footprint is attributed to its ignition day — the curve is the season's running total, not satellite-measured daily spread. Small fires without published acreage are silent partners in the texture.
